Infrastructure Sustainability rating support for ADCO on VicTrack's 640-space, four-level commuter car park at Belgrave Station. Not certified.

The challenge

A 640-space, four-level structure was built in stages on a confined site between the rail line and a steep hill, in the middle of a working transport hub. Sustainability performance needed to be tracked against the Infrastructure Sustainability (IS) framework throughout.

Our approach

Makao supported ADCO with IS rating work through delivery. The project did not seek IS certification.

The outcome

The car park opened with 470 more spaces than before, 16 accessible bays, real-time parking signs and an EV-charging trial. Its rusted-metal façade was selected through community feedback. ADCO's delivery won the 2024 AIB Commercial Construction award ($25m–$60m). (Facts from ADCO and VicTrack.)
